Your Primary Care Physician
Dr. Jason Zannis D.O. opened Walk-In to Wellness over 20 years ago, straight out of residency and with a big goal in mind: easy access to health and wellness for patients in a walk-in primary care office. Since then, he has worked vigorously to improve health care for his patients.
Dr. Zannis has a big vision for himself and health care. He specializes in treating people who want to take fewer medications, see fewer doctors while increasing their overall wellness. His Coral Springs, Florida office offers visits by appointment, walk-in, and now via express-visits through a text option to enhance patient’s access to care.
There’s no more waiting for refills, visits, or lab results. In fact, most health issues can be addressed quickly and efficiently through our express-visit text option. Dr. Zannis’ primary goal is to keep his patients healthy, and if possible, off medications and staying out of the doctor’s office or hospital through a combination of cutting-edge technology and prevention.
Think of a Primary Care Physician, a PCP, as the nucleus of your health care needs. He or she is the health and wellness go-to person. Here at Walk-In to Wellness, a premier, primary care walk-in clinic in Coral Springs, that person is Dr. Jason Zannis D.O. And he’s serious about optimal health.
Imagine – a whole-person approach to good health and wellness. We’re talking preventative measures and innovative steps towards giving you optimal health and increased vitality. That’s the approach we take here at Walk-In to Wellness. We’re all about more natural medicine and therapies to put you on a track to optimal wellness. Think “#staywell”.
What is a Primary Care Physician (PCP)?
For most people, that track to wellness begins with a Primary Care Physician (PCP). Your PCP can handle most of your healthcare issues – high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, along with routine checkups or preventative care such as flu shots and other immunizations. But when necessary, your primary doctor will refer you to a specialist such as a cardiologist, orthopedist, dermatologist, gynecologist, psychiatrist, or surgeon. You may even be asking yourself, “Do I need a PCP?” Yes, you do. And it’s good to have a PCP you can trust. As we previously stated, a PCP handles many medical issues and depending on the type of insurance you have, you may be required to have a PCP.
Doctor ofOsteopathic Medicine
While traditional PCPs obviously provide a great service, more people are looking for a more natural approach to medicine. They’re choosing to make a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) their primary doctor. Hence – Dr. Jason Zannis D.O.
Like the traditional doctor, an osteopathic physician is a fully licensed physician to practice in every state. Like the traditional MD, they diagnose, treat, prescribe medications, and perform surgery. But DOs focus more on prevention. One study found that nearly half (45 percent) of doctors of osteopathic medicine practice primary care, and they account for 10 percent of all primary care physicians.
Osteopathic Medicineis Growing
Growth in the industry shows no signs of slowing down. According to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), osteopathic medicine is “one of the fastest-growing health care professions in the country. Over the past 30 years, the number of DOs practicing in the U.S. has more than tripled.” The group also finds that over half of the 2017 new osteopathic medical residents will pursue careers in primary care specialties. This is all a testament to the growing interest and demand for this type of medicine.
